Tobias (Toby) J. McKenna
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. McKenna is the Chief Executive Officer at Rockpoint responsible for the management and performance of the corporation’s storage and retail distribution assets. He brings to Rockpoint Gas Storage over 25 years of experience in the energy industry with leadership roles across a wide spectrum of disciplines including gas storage and marketing, midstream operations, energy trading, business development and Acquisitions and Divestitures. From 2014 to 2020 he was cofounder of Tidewater Midstream Ltd. where he served in multiple roles including Director, President and CEO, Vice President of Business Development & Commercial and most recently as President, Midstream. From 2010 to 2014, he was Vice President, Natural Gas Trading for Castleton Commodities Canada and prior thereto was cofounder of its predecessor, Louis Dreyfus Energy Canada in 2003.
Mr. McKenna obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia (1994).
Kevin Donegan
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin is the Chief Financial Officer of Rockpoint Gas Storage. He served in the role of Vice President, Finance from May of 2015 until May of 2024. Kevin has over 25 years of finance, tax and accounting experience with various public and private entities in, and servicing the upstream and midstream energy industry. Kevin’s most recent role prior to joining Rockpoint was as the CFO and VP Finance of Montana Exploration Corp., a TSXV-listed company in the exploration and production industry. Prior thereto, Kevin spent 8 years as the CFO of Blaze Energy, a privately-held upstream company with substantial midstream operations including gas gathering/transportation/processing and natural gas storage services. Earlier in his career, Kevin gained experience from Quicksilver Resources, Altagas and Deloitte. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and is legacy Chartered Accountant member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Mathieu Fournier
Vice President, Operations
Mathieu is our Vice President, Operations. Mathieu has over 20 years of experience with gas storage development and operations. Prior to assuming this current role, Mathieu has held reservoir and team management positions within Niska Gas Storage Partners since 2008, playing an integral part in growing the gas storage capacity of the assets under management. Earlier in his career, Mathieu was reservoir engineer at Intragaz Inc., overseeing its underground storage assets. Mathieu holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from Laval University and is a member on an underground gas storage technical committee within the American Gas Association.
Hardip Kalar
Vice President, Marketing and Optimization
Hardip is the Vice President, Marketing and Optimization at Rockpoint Gas Storage. He has served in this role since June 2015, and is responsible for the commercial activities at the Lodi & Warwick natural gas storage facilities. Hardip has over 20 years of varied experience in the natural gas business. Hardip spent 12 years at Iberdrola Canada Energy Services Ltd., (formerly PPM Energy) working in a variety of roles related to the Canadian gas storage business. Hardip’s most recent role prior to joining Rockpoint was as the Manager of Marketing at Iberdrola, the third largest independent owner and operator of natural gas storage in North America. Hardip holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Calgary.
Kraig McConaghy
Vice President, Trading
Kraig is the Vice President, Trading and is responsible for commercial activities at the AECO and Wild Goose natural gas storage facilities. Since 2000, Kraig has continuously worked with the natural gas storage business of Niska Gas Storage Partners, Encana, and its predecessor, Alberta Energy Company Ltd. During this time Kraig has held various positions in Trade, Risk Management, Market Analytics, and Scheduling. Kraig graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern British Columbia.
Sheri Doell
Vice President, Origination & Renewable Energy
Sheri is the Vice President Origination & Renewable Energy. She leads the long-term strategy for designing and negotiating storage service arrangements across a wide variety of customers for our assets in both Canada and the United States. Sheri’s lead commercial role involves developing strategy and executing initiatives across a spectrum of business operations such as storage, optimization, transportation, power and carbon. As the energy industry transitions to a low carbon future, Sheri is an integral part of advancing Rockpoint’s initiatives. Sheri joined the organization’s predecessor company, Encana Corporation, in 2003 as the AECO cash trader. Over the years Sheri has held various positions within the trading and marketing group. Sherri holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Jon Syrnyk
Senior Vice President, Corporate Development
Jon is the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Rockpoint Gas Storage. He is responsible for leading various strategic corporate and business development initiatives to drive value and appropriately allocate capital. He collaborates with Rockpoint’s commercial, finance, risk and engineering & operations functions to identify, assess and execute investment opportunities across the business. Prior to joining Rockpoint, Jon spent 7 years with Brookfield Infrastructure on their buy-side investment team and portfolio management group. Jon is a legacy Chartered Accountant member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and holds a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation which he earned during his time working in the Deal Advisory and Audit Service groups of a Big 4 Accounting Firm.
James Bartlett
General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
James joined Rockpoint in 2017 and is the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. He is responsible for all of the legal and regulatory affairs of Rockpoint. Prior to joining Rockpoint, James was an associate at Bennett Jones LLP where he focused on mergers & acquisitions and other commercial arrangements. James holds a Masters of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctor degree, both from the University of Calgary.
