Rockpoint Gas Storage has been in operation for over 20 years and is the largest independent owner and operator of natural gas storage in North America with eight strategically located assets with more than 300 Bcf of working gas capacity in key producing and consuming regions.
Rockpoint Gas Storage is owned by Brookfield Infrastructure Fund II and Brookfield Americas Infrastructure Fund, both of which are managed by Brookfield Asset Management (Brookfield). Brookfield is a leading alternative asset manager with over $575 billion in long-life, high-quality assets and businesses in more than 30 countries around the world. Rockpoint manages and operates Brookfield’s natural gas storage asset portfolio.
In Alberta, Rockpoint owns and operates the AECO HubTM, comprised of the Suffield and Countess facilities (154 Bcf) and owns and operates the Warwick facility (21 Bcf). In California, we own and operate the Wild Goose facility (75 Bcf) and the Lodi facility, comprised of the Lodi and Kirby Hills facilities (31 Bcf). In Oklahoma, we own and operate the Salt Plains facility (13 Bcf) and in Texas, we own 49% of the Tres Palacios facility.
Rockpoint also owns and operates Access Gas Services which provides natural gas supply and related services to customers throughout Canada and provides agency services to natural gas end-users in Eastern Canada through Enerstream Agency Services.

Tobias (Toby) J. McKenna
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. McKenna is the Chief Executive Officer at Rockpoint responsible for the management and performance of the corporation’s storage and retail distribution assets. He brings to Rockpoint Gas Storage over 25 years of experience in the energy industry with leadership roles across a wide spectrum of disciplines including gas storage and marketing, midstream operations, energy trading, business development and Acquisitions and Divestitures. From 2014 to 2020 he was cofounder of Tidewater Midstream Ltd. where he served in multiple roles including Director, President and CEO, Vice President of Business Development & Commercial and most recently as President, Midstream. From 2010 to 2014, he was Vice President, Natural Gas Trading for Castleton Commodities Canada and prior thereto was cofounder of its predecessor, Louis Dreyfus Energy Canada in 2003.
Mr. McKenna obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia (1994).
Chief Investment Officer
Darren is our Chief Investment Officer. He has served in this role since July 2016. Prior to joining Rockpoint, Darren was a Senior Vice President with Brookfield Asset Management where he was responsible for Brookfield’s acquisitions of Niska Gas Storage Partners gas storage assets. In addition to leading the acquisitions of Niska’s assets, Darren was also responsible for Brookfield’s investments in long-haul natural gas pipelines and district energy businesses. Prior to joining Brookfield, Darren worked for an international accounting firm in their business valuation and corporate finance advisory practice. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator.
Vice President, Finance
Kevin is the Vice President, Finance of Rockpoint Gas Storage. He has served in this role since May of 2015. Kevin has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience with various public and private entities in, and servicing the upstream and midstream energy industry. Kevin’s most recent role prior to joining Rockpoint was as the CFO and VP Finance of Montana Exploration Corp., a TSXV-listed company in the exploration and production industry. Prior thereto, Kevin spent 8 years as the CFO of Blaze Energy, a privately-held upstream company with substantial midstream operations including gas gathering/transportation/processing and natural gas storage services. Earlier in his career, Kevin gained experience from Quicksilver Resources, Altagas and Deloitte. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and is legacy Chartered Accountant member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Vice President, Legal & Regulatory
Jason is our Vice President, Legal & Regulatory. He has served in this role since 2007. Prior to assuming this role, Jason was Associate General Counsel and was continuously with the natural gas storage business of Niska Gas Storage Partners, EnCana Corporation and its predecessor, Alberta Energy Company Ltd., since 2001. In addition to his legal and regulatory roles at Rockpoint, he also heads the Human Resources Department and is responsible for our corporate insurance program. Before joining the natural gas storage business, he practiced corporate, M&A and securities law at McCarthy Tétrault LLP and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta.
Vice President, Operations
Mathieu is our Vice President, Operations. Mathieu has over 20 years of experience with gas storage development and operations. Prior to assuming this current role, Mathieu has held reservoir and team management positions within Niska Gas Storage Partners since 2008, playing an integral part in growing the gas storage capacity of the assets under management. Earlier in his career, Mathieu was reservoir engineer at Intragaz Inc., overseeing its underground storage assets. Mathieu holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from Laval University and is a member on an underground gas storage technical committee within the American Gas Association.
Vice President, Marketing and Optimization
Hardip is the Vice President, Marketing and Optimization at Rockpoint Gas Storage. He has served in this role since June 2015, and is responsible for the commercial activities at the Lodi & Warwick natural gas storage facilities. Hardip has over 15 years of varied experience in the natural gas business. Hardip spent 12 years at Iberdrola Canada Energy Services Ltd., (formerly PPM Energy) working in a variety of roles related to the Canadian gas storage business. Hardip’s most recent role prior to joining Rockpoint was as the Manager of Marketing at Iberdrola, the third largest independent owner and operator of natural gas storage in North America. Hardip holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Calgary.
Vice President, Trading
Kraig is the Vice President, Trading and is responsible for all commercial activities at the AECO, Wild Goose, and Salt Plains natural gas storage facilities. Prior to this role, Kraig was Director, Trade and Storage Optimization at Niska Gas Storage Partners, the largest publicly traded independent owner and operator of natural gas storage in North America. Kraig has continuously worked with the natural gas storage business of Niska, Encana, and its predecessor, Alberta Energy Company Ltd., since 2000. During this time Kraig has held various positions in Trade, Risk Management, Market Analytics, and Scheduling. Kraig graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern British Columbia.
Vice President, Origination & Renewable Energy
Sheri is the Vice President Origination & Renewable Energy. She conducts the cross-functional coordination and resolution of regulatory, technical, engineering, business development, commercial and risk issues for the AECO, Wild Goose and Salt Plains storage assets. Her key role is structuring and negotiating long-term third-party storage arrangements for these assets. Sheri joined the organization’s predecessor company, Encana Corporation, in 2003 as the AECO cash trader. Over the years Sheri has held various positions within the trading and marketing group. Her focus on commercial arrangements and customer development will be an integral part of developing a Renewable Energy strategy that meets the needs of customers in the clean energy transition. Sheri earned an MBA from the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
